Majeda

Majeda Ahmed - Aden

Background: Majeda’s family includes her three daughters, and they all reside together in the family home which she shares with her siblings in Aden, Yemen. Despite facing various challenges, Majeda plays a pivotal role in supporting her family.  As a divorced mother, she shoulders the responsibility of providing for her daughters and ensuring their well-being. She primarily earns her income by selling perfumes and incense on the streets of Aden. In addition to Majeda’s income, her family receives support from her brother, who provides a monthly income of $40 USD.

Donations and Impact: The impact of the generous donations provided to Majeda has been substantial and has significantly improved her life and business.

  • In June 2023, a donation of $300 CAD was sent to Majeda, which was allocated to purchase additional perfumes, bottles, a table, and a chair to support her small perfume business. Additionally, a monthly allowance of $100 CAD was committed for three months. This support arrived just in time for Eid, a period when more people purchase perfumes, enhancing the potential for increased sales.
  • In July 2023, the second monthly donation of $100 CAD was provided to Majeda, and her small business continued to thrive. She not only managed her street stand but also started taking private orders, diversifying her income sources. The donation of a stand by Waseela had a significant positive impact, as it eliminated the need for her to travel long distances to sell her perfumes.
  • August 2023 marked the delivery of the third and final monthly allowance to Majeda. Our Aden volunteer reported that Majeda expressed immense happiness upon receiving the donation. During this period, she faced personal challenges, including the tragic loss of her daughter’s stillborn child and a family conflict that necessitated a move to a new house. To alleviate some of the difficulties Majeda faced, a rechargeable battery with its required accessories and a fan were purchased and installed for her, enhancing her comfort and quality of life as power outages are consistent in Aden.
These donations and support not only bolstered Majeda’s small business but also provided her with much-needed relief during a challenging period in her life. They played a crucial role in stabilizing her income and improving her living conditions, making a tangible and positive impact on her overall well-being.
