Yemenis Build
Stable Incomes
What We Do
Waseela provides holistic, dignity-centered support to families in Yemen, helping them build sustainable incomes and long-term financial resilience.
Our approach is personalized, locally informed, and adaptable. Families define their own goals—we co-design livelihood projects, provide tailored start-up funding, monthly allowances, and access to training. We support multiple family members when needed, building household-level stability from the ground up.

Our Story
In 2020, a group of Yemeni women founded our organization, inspired by the life-changing scholarships that brought them from Yemen to Canada. Once beneficiaries themselves, they now share a common goal: to pass on the gift of opportunity.
Waseela—an Arabic word meaning a means or channel to an end—captures our mission to bridge compassion and action. We go beyond traditional charity by focusing on sustainable change. Through education scholarships and support for income-generating projects, we help Yemenis build lasting livelihoods.
Why Yemen?
Yemen faces one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises. Since the civil war began in 2015, conflict, displacement, and economic collapse have left millions struggling to meet basic needs. Access to clean water, healthcare, and education remains critically limited, and malnutrition—especially among children—is alarmingly high.
Today, over half the population relies on humanitarian aid. While essential, this dependence often strips families of agency and reinforces cycles of poverty. Through Waseela, we set out to address the lack of dignified, sustainable livelihoods in the midst of protracted conflict. We operate in the in-between space—not shaping national policy, and not simply responding to emergencies—but helping families take control of their financial futures. Our focus on income-generating projects provides individuals with startup capital and monthly support, empowering them to build lasting, stable sources of income with dignity.
